Morgan (AKA "Socks")

Morgan came to DRI from a shelter in WV. She is a dobe/mix. Very cute! She was a sad little girl when she arrived at DRI. Very scared and dirty and needed alot of TLC. It wasnt long before she was adopted and her new mom Lynda loves her very much. It is very rewarding for us at DRI to see dogs that come from shelters that end up in wonderful homes. It makes it all worth while... Thank you Lynda!

Ube

Ube is one of "Rosie's" pups. Rosie  (a red female dobe) had a litter of dobe/mix pups, her and the pups were dumped in a night deposit box on a cold rainy night at a shelter. Unfortunatly one died in a shelter volunteers arms that night, it was just too late despite their efforts. We were asked to help, it wasnt looking good for any of them.  We literally had to do anything and everything we could to keep them alive. They (including mama) were full of worms their stomachs were huge, they were also covered in mange and were in the worst shape imaginable a pup could be in. Rosie's stomach was so raw and sore it made nursing painful and difficult. After days and weeks of praying and doing everything we could to keep them alive we were in the clear...they were all going to make it! Ube was adopted by a man named keith he says  "Ube is doing awesome. He is still a little skittish of people but warms up quick".  Thank you Keith!

Daisy

Daisy came to DRI as an owner turn in. She was owned by an elderly woman who had passed away.  Her grandson was taking care of Daisy and due to landlord conflicts was unable to keep her. Her tried taking her to a shelter and they would not take daisy in (she was also pregnant). He literally called us from the parking lot of the shelter because he had no where for her to go and could not go home with her! So needless to say we took off immediatly to help James and Daisy. Daisy was on the best food possible while pregnant so her and the pups could remain healthy and strong. She finally delivered in November, 2006. She had 5 boys and 1 girl.  4 of which were blue, 1 red, and 1 fawn. (The father of the pups was a blue doberman) All pups now have wonderful homes. It was a very hard process picking the right homes for Daisy's pups!  All pups were cropped/docked, spayed/neutered, and UTD on shots before leaving DRI. Also when daisy was able after delivering she too was spayed and UTD on shots. When daisy was spayed our vet said her uterus looked like the uterus of a 10 year old dog, not a 2-3 year old. (The result of being bred too much, too soon) It was a rough spay and she lost alot of blood. After a couple weeks of taking it easy she was ok and ready to go to her new home. It was very hard to say good-bye to Daisy and her pups. They are all very special to us. It was an experience we will never forget. Daisy now lives out in the country on 90 some acres with her mom and dad....she sleeps in bed between at night! They love her dearly. Here is what they had to say about her..."She is a happy camper. What a sweet heart and a joy in our life. Love seeing her puppies online." Thank you Lisa and Bill!

Zeke (AKA "Rocky")

Zeke came to DRI from a man who found him abandoned and named him rocky. He kept him until he could get to DRI. We had a potential adopter who had always wanted a doberman. After meeting zeke It was a perfect match.  Val re-named rocky, zeke. Zeke and val spend lots of time at the dog park and have become very close. Another happy ending after a rough start at life...

I’ve wanted a Doberman as long as I can remember and to name him Zeke, but could not get one until I bought my first house.  Now that I was able, I searched on the internet and came across DRI.  I emailed Candie  and inquired about a young 1 year old male by the name of Winston.  Candie emailed me back and told me that they found a father for Winston, but they had another young 7 month old black/tan male named Rocky.  I was very interested an emailed her back stating that I would love to meet him.  Candie told me that they were going to have a promotional booth in PETSMART in Monroeville that weekend.  I went to see Rocky and was instantly won over by his joyous attitude and my heart just went out to him.

The story that I remember is that Rocky was abandoned by his parents as they moved and didn’t take him with them.  He was a little skinny and extremely high strung.  Despite all of those things, he was in good spirits.  All he needed was a nice home and some affection.

Now, a year later I have a wonderful companion who is still as happy and excited as ever on his second chance at a good life!  I would love to thank DRI for bringing Zeke into my family and to Candie and Carly for your time, hard work, and commitment to saving these wonderful dogs.  If you guys need anything from me please let me know and I will be there to help anyway I can!

Thank you,

Val

Blaze

Blaze is one of Daisy's pups that was born in November, 2006. On the morning the pups were born we called all our prospective adopters and told them the good news. We very much liked the Noble's application and when we called them we asked what color and sex they were hoping for before we even told them what we had. They said they hoped for a Red Male and it just so happened there was 1 in the litter! Blaze is a beauty!!! Blaze should feel lucky to have such a wonderful family and I know they feel lucky to have him as well. Here is what they had to say about him...

Here's our beautiful Blaze.....appropriately named because he's a ball of
fire!
Our family is so lucky to have been chosen by DRI to adopt one of Daisy's
pups. On November 1, 2006 we lost our beloved 7 year old  Doberman Sable
to bone cancer. She was our second Dobie to have her life cut short by
that terrible disease. We knew that we wanted to get another dog, but
weren't sure if we wanted to go through the heartbreak of losing one
again. I decided to browse for rescues one day and came upon a listing for
Daisy's pups. Immediately I was on the site inquiring about the
dogs.....was I too late?....were they born yet?.....It was fate that these
pups were going to be born at such a sad time in our lives. Candie was
wonderful during the time that I started the application process right up
until the pups were born. When she and Carly brought Blaze to us, we felt
as if we had known them all of our lives. It was so obvious that they
truly love what they do, and find the best homes for the dogs. It was also
obvious how much love they had shown Blaze while at the rescue.
Blaze is now 5 months old and weighs 53 lbs. He is a wonderful family dog,
and we can't thank DRI enough for letting us be a part of his life....and
theirs.
The world is a much better place for these beautiful dogs because of them!
Love,
Tony, Ann, Emily, and Blaze Noble
