He longs for a home of his very own. PLEASE give him a chance you will absolutly love him when you meet him!!! ***OUR VIDEO IS UP!!! "You can find our rescue on Comcast On Demand. Go to the Your Town folder and then click on Animal Stories." THANK YOU Jessica Carver and everyone at Comcast for ALL you have done for us and for your support and hard work. We are forever grateful! http://www.spotsociety.org/fatedog.html http://www.animal-abusesite.info/shelters.html
Doberman Rescue Inc. (D.R.I.) is a nonprofit organization whose primary goal is to rescue abused, abandoned and unwanted Dobermans and place them in suitable, safe, and loving homes. We provide Doberman adoption in Sewickley, PA (near Pittsburgh). We rescue primarily Pure-Bred Doberman Pinschers but, in urgent circumstances and when space permits we help Dobe/Mixes and "other" Breeds.
Most of the Dobermans we rescue come from shelters, pounds or animal control facilities. A smaller percentage are turned over to us by owners who for a variety of reasons, are no longer able or willing to care for them. Some come to us because of the owner's death, divorce, loss of job and/or home, and for many other reasons which are NOT the fault of the dog. DRI WILL NOT take in ANY human aggressive dogs into our program under any circumstance. We have a very strict policy regarding this!!!
All rescued Dobermans are up to date on vaccinations, heartworm tested, spayed/neutered, and evaluated to the best of our ability before placement. We attempt to evaluate their temperaments and work on basic obedience and manners. We attempt to place each Doberman into the most well suited home based on the individual dog. We consider the dog's reaction to other dogs, cats, and children.
We do not require a fenced yard but its is very much preferred for not only the dogs exercise but also for safety reasons. We will NOT place an un-altered dog period! Do not ask for any reason! We do not have spay/neuter contracts, regardless of age. The pet population is so far out of control we take all possible measures to work against this problem. We have every single dog spayed/neutered prior to placement. We strongly recommend that new owners use a monthly wormer that includes heartworm protection. We have had rescue dogs that were heartworm positive and it is not only very serious and dangerous also treatment is very expensive. DRI and its volunteers are very compassionate and serious about our dogs and our rescue. This is our life! We take adoptions very seriously and expect all prospective adopters to do the same. Our only *payment* is knowing we helped a homeless Doberman find its forever home. We want our dogs to go to only the best homes where they will be loved and well taken care of FOREVER. Please consider your present and future family plans before even considering adoption. All applicants MUST first complete an adoption application, agree to a home visit, and comply with our adoption contract that we strongly enforce. We want to make sure each adoption is a positive match. Adopters are also required to keep in touch with DRI post adoption for the life of the dog. Our standard adoption fee for an adult Purebred Doberman is $250. Special Needs, Seniors, Dobe/Mixes, and "other" Breeds are generally less. Purebred Doberman Puppies 1 year and under are $300. Our adoption fee helps our expenses we have such as spaying/neutering, HW testing, vaccinations, worming if needed, transportation, food, pull fees from shelters, etc, etc. Often times the adoption fee only covers a mere portion of our expenses. ***After completing an adoption application and submitting it please contact us via email or phone to make sure we have recieved it properly if you have not heard from us within 24 hrs. If the adoption does not work out for any reason, the adoptive home is required to contact Doberman Rescue Inc. and return the Doberman to DRI! NO EXCEPTIONS! We are a Doberman Pinscher Rescue Organization. We are a nonprofit group that relies solely on donations and fund-raising activities for its income.
